Preparation
In preparation for your Morpheus8 treatment, you should avoid taking blood-thinning and anti-inflammatory medication, to decrease the possibility of bruising. It is best to avoid consuming alcohol for 24 hours prior for the same reason. There are certain supplements, like Arnica, that we may recommend you take in order to prevent bruising.
Avoid sun exposure and use of tanning beds for up to a week before the procedure. Excessive sun exposure before and after the procedure may cause unwanted skin darkening or lightening.
If you are going to be receiving medication to ease your discomfort during the procedure, we advise that you schedule a ride to and from your appointment. After your personal consultation, we will let you know how else you may need to prepare.
Morpheus8 Procedure
Morpheus8 treatment sessions can vary from fifteen minutes to about an hour long, depending on the area being treated.
There are three steps in the Morpheus8 procedure.
- We clean and prep your skin.
- We administer a topical numbing agent onto the area of treatment. Local anesthesia may be necessary in some cases.
- We treat your skin with the Morpheus8 device. This involves methodically applying the needles to your skin. As the needles penetrate your skin, they will emit radiofrequency energy.
The depth at which the microneedles penetrate your skin and the intensity of the radiofrequency energy depend on the nature of the skin issues being addressed. If you feel uncomfortable during your procedure, your treatment provider may be able to alter the settings. If the settings must remain the same, we can give you local numbing or pain medication. We will determine these measures to the best of our ability before the initial procedure, though it is perfectly fine to let your treatment provider know how you are feeling.
Recovery
Morpheus8 treatment boasts a shorter recovery period than other more intensive procedures like facelifts. After treatment, your skin may display some swelling and redness in the treatment area. If your provider utilized particularly deep applications, you may experience some bruising as well. These symptoms are common, and should disappear within a week.
We advise against excessive sun exposure to the treated areas for one week after your treatment. Your skin will be more vulnerable as it heals, so sun exposure can have a heightened effect and potentially damage your skin.
We may provide you with more specific instructions for your recovery period. Be sure to follow them carefully. You may return to work as soon as you are comfortable doing so.

Do Morpheus8 treatments work as well as a facelift?
Morpheus8 treatments deal with many of the same things that facelifts do. They are best for patients with mild forms of skin laxity and other skin issues. However, Morpheus8 does not require incisions and will therefore leave no scarring. This factor, as well as financial considerations, may be the reason why Morpheus8 treatment is better suited to some patients than a facelift.
Do Morpheus8 treatments hurt?
Morpheus8 involves microneedling techniques on the skin, which may be uncomfortable for some patients. Depending on a patient’s treatment indications, topical numbing agents, local anesthesia and medication can be administered to make the procedure as comfortable as possible.
