Preparation

To help you prepare for an M22 IPL or laser treatment, our specialist will provide you with a set of pre-treatment instructions during their consultation. Little preparation is typically required, but any instructions should still be followed to ensure the best treatment outcomes.

Patients may be asked to alter their skincare routine to avoid harsh products, such as retinoids or exfoliants. Sun protection should be worn when leaving the house, as sun damage may result in the appointment being rescheduled until resolved. It is also important to maintain a nutritious diet and stay hydrated. On the day of the appointment itself, patients should arrive at the clinic with clean skin.

Procedure

Upon arrival, the patient will be led to a private treatment area where their skin will be cleansed and sanitized. Eye protection will be provided to shield the eyes from the light throughout the treatment session. The specialist will then apply a specialized cooling gel to the skin. This gel helps protect the skin and enhance patient comfort.

From there, the device will be adjusted for the patient’s skin type, tone, and concerns. The specialist will pass the M22 handpiece over the skin to deliver pulses of intense light to the treatment area. The treatment is well-tolerated, with many patients describing the sensation similar to that of a rubber band snapping against the skin. Although tolerable, the handpiece also features a sapphire cooling tip to enhance comfort. (4)

Recovery
