About Acne Care

Learning about acne, its causes, and its treatments is an important first step in your skincare journey. Our specialized acne care facials are designed to gently cleanse and exfoliate your skin to clear dirt, dead skin cells, oil, and debris from your skin. We often incorporate extractions (the manual removal of clogged pores, such as blackheads and whiteheads) and post-treatment moisturizers to ensure you feel refreshed and rejuvenated after every session.

The M22 by Lumenis is a state-of-the-art platform that combines Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and laser technologies to treat a wide range of skin concerns, including active acne and acne scars. One of the standout features of the M22 system is its specialized Acne Filter, which is designed to directly target the root causes of active breakouts.

This advanced IPL treatment uses precise wavelengths of light to penetrate the skin and destroy acne-causing bacteria (P. acnes), reduce inflammation, and shrink overactive oil glands. The result is clearer skin with fewer breakouts and less redness. The M22 Acne Filter is particularly effective for patients dealing with persistent or inflammatory acne and can be used on the face, chest, back, and other breakout-prone areas.

Excel® V effectively addresses dark spots, redness, pigmentation, and abnormal blood vessels. If you want to address veins or wrinkles, we can also diminish them with this laser. This laser administers significant energy to the skin at 532 nm and 1064 nm wavelengths to address both deep and surface-level skin concerns. Its dual-wavelength technology targets red, purple, blue, and brown chromophores in the skin to refresh your appearance.

The Acne Shot

Cystic acne can be especially stubborn and difficult to treat with topical or oral medications alone. The Acne Shot is designed to reduce inflammation and accelerate healing for deep, painful acne cysts. Using a small injection of a corticosteroid, this targeted solution helps flatten large, swollen blemishes within 24 to 48 hours, making it ideal for unexpected breakouts or flare-ups before important events. The Acne Shot is a quick, in-office procedure that only takes a few minutes and can be administered to various areas, including the face, back, chest, and shoulders.

PiXel8-RF

PiXel8-RF is a radiofrequency microneedling treatment that increases your skin’s collagen levels with tiny needles that make microwounds invisible to the naked eye. The treatment delivers radiofrequency energy and heat directly to the skin, which causes it to contract to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and stretch marks. With a small hand-held device, the needles will penetrate the skin and deliver the radiofrequency to enhance your complexion.

Fractional Laser

Fractional laser treatments rejuvenate your skin with a noninvasive laser that can address multiple concerns in a single treatment, including scars, wrinkles, age spots, and hyperpigmentation. Erbium YAG Laser

Secret RF

Secret RF is a fractional radiofrequency and microneedling treatment that administers heat to the skin to address scars, improving cell turnover and increasing collagen production for a smoother, brighter complexion. This process tightens the skin, reduces enlarged pores, and diminishes acne scars. It can also smooth out fine lines and wrinkles while improving skin quality to address signs of aging and acne, all in the same appointment.

Acne Packages

Our acne packages are customizable treatment plans that include more than one type of acne therapy. This can be helpful for patients who need a series of treatments or have other skin concerns they would like to address. They are designed to diminish blemishes for clearer skin and reduce scarring so you can enjoy an even and radiant complexion. Each acne package includes an AGNES treatment–a series of laser resurfacing treatments administered every 3-4 weeks over 3-6 weeks, depending on the condition of your skin.

Preparation

The preparation process for starting acne care can vary depending on the type of treatment you receive. In most cases, you should avoid excessive sun exposure and take good care of your skin in the weeks before your appointment. Your specialist may ask that you pause certain types of skincare or treatments that are harsher on the skin, such as chemical peels. You should also schedule your treatment two weeks before significant events.

After Your Treatment

Most patients will need minimal to no downtime, depending on the treatment they receive. In any case, we will provide specific instructions based on your personalized treatment plan to help you care for your skin. After your treatment, you must continue to avoid excessive sun exposure. We will also provide skincare recommendations for your skin type to help you care for your skin optimally.
