Emsella is a non-invasive treatment by BTL that can rehabilitate the pelvic floor muscles to reduce urinary incontinence in both men and women without surgical intervention, injections, or downtime. (1)

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that support your pelvic organs and control the function of your bladder. Events such as aging, childbirth, menopause, or previous surgery can affect this muscle group and lead to concerns such as urinary incontinence and reduced intimate satisfaction, both of which can diminish the quality of your life. By undergoing Emsella, you can address your concerns at their core and restore your sense of personal comfort and self-confidence.

If you are interested in improving each of your symptoms, look no further than 17Medspa! We are one of California’s premier aesthetic practices, and we are excited to bring our services to West LA.

About Emsella

Emsella is an FDA-approved treatment that our team of specialists can perform to reduce urinary incontinence and restore your sense of self-comfort and wellness. This treatment uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to induce supramaximal contractions, which are muscle contractions that are more powerful than those you can achieve on your own. (2) Each treatment session is equivalent to 11,000 Kegel exercises, allowing you to comprehensively strengthen your entire pelvic floor and restore your neuromuscular control.

About Urinary Incontinence

Urinary incontinence is the involuntary leakage of urine. This is a widespread concern that affects more than 13 million people in the United States, and approximately 24% to 45% of women. (3) Despite these staggering numbers, most patients do not seek help due to self-consciousness or embarrassment over their concerns. With Emsella, you can discreetly gain relief and take back control of your body.

Benefits

You can experience several benefits when undergoing your Emsella treatments, such as:

  • Reduced Leakage: Emsella can eliminate several types of urinary incontinence, including stress urinary incontinence and urge incontinence.
  • Stronger Pelvic Floor: Emsella can restore the strength of your pelvic floor muscles by inducing supramaximal contractions, which are Kegel-like contractions that are stronger than those you can achieve alone.
  • Zero Downtime: You can return to all of your daily activities immediately after your appointment.
  • Maintained Privacy: We perform Emsella while you remain fully clothed to maintain your sense of privacy.
  • Short Treatment Time: Every Emsella session lasts for 28 minutes, which is very quick compared to many other rejuvenation treatments.
  • Improved Sensations: Emsella can enhance your sexual satisfaction and sensitivity.
  • Tailored Solutions: Our team of specialists customizes the settings of each Emsella treatment according to your concerns and goals.
  • Non-Surgical Approaches: This treatment does not require anesthesia, incisions, or a lengthy recovery time.

Candidates

You may be an ideal candidate for Emsella if you are interested in restoring the strength of your pelvic floor muscles without the need for surgical intervention or medications. This treatment is tremendously beneficial for both men and women, especially those experiencing stress urinary incontinence, urge incontinence, or an overactive bladder caused by prostate surgery, radiation, childbirth, or menopause. Emsella can also improve your sense of sexual wellness and satisfaction.

To undergo this treatment, you should be in good general health and maintain realistic expectations regarding your results. We do not recommend this treatment for anyone who has a pacemaker, metal implants, a defibrillator, or a copper IUD. Pregnant women should not undergo this treatment either. Your specialist will assess your candidacy during your personal consultation.

Personal Consultation

The first step to restoring your sense of wellness is attending a personal consultation. During your meeting, your specialist will converse with you individually to establish realistic expectations and learn more about how they can help you. They will explain how Emsella works, review your medical history, and discuss your concerns. If needed, they will also perform a physical evaluation.

They will then use these details to determine whether Emsella will be beneficial for you. They will create a treatment plan around your needs, and they may recommend pairing your treatment with another for enhanced results. They will also answer any questions you have prepared to ensure you fully understand what to expect.

If you are interested in scheduling this meeting, we invite you to contact us online. You may also call our Beverly Center office at (310) 775-3157.

Preparation

Emsella does not require any preparation, but your specialist may provide you with recommendations to optimize your treatment and results. These can include:

  • Staying Hydrated: Drink plenty of water in the days before your procedure.
  • Eating Nutritiously: Ensure your meals are balanced and nutritious.
  • Dress Comfortably: Wear loose and comfortable clothing to your appointment.
  • Disclose Your Health Concerns: Let your specialist know if you are menstruating or have any infections during your treatment.
  • Use the Restroom: Empty your bladder before your treatment begins.

Procedure

Upon your arrival, your specialist will lead you to a private treatment room. They will reconfirm each detail of your treatment plan before leading you to the Emsella chair. The chair will emit HIFEM technology into your intimate tissues to induce supramaximal contractions. Our patients have described this sensation as similar to tingling or controlled contractions, but not painful. This treatment does not require anesthesia, and many of our patients read or relax during their session.

Emsella is administered as a series of 4 to 8 sessions, depending on the severity of patient concerns, targeted adjustment, and individual goals. Throughout the sessions, any individual is welcomed to reassess their goals to the provider. We perform it fully clothed, allowing you to maintain your sense of privacy. After the treatment has concluded, you will be free to leave.

Recovery

One of the primary benefits of Emsella is its lack of downtime. This means that you can return to your routine activities immediately after your appointment has concluded. You may notice a mild soreness across the treated area, but this feeling is temporary and comparable to that felt after undergoing a strenuous workout.

Your specialist will provide you with any aftercare instructions or guidelines you may need to follow when they meet with you in person.

Results

You may notice improvements after a single treatment session, but the results of Emsella are gradual and will become more apparent as you continue through your treatment regimen. Your results will vary, but you can expect stronger pelvic floor muscles, improved bladder control, and an elevated sense of sexual wellness. These factors can also contribute to a heightened sense of self-confidence and greater quality of life overall.

The results of Emsella are long-lasting, with effects that you can enjoy for up to a year. After this point, we recommend undergoing annual maintenance treatments to maintain your results.

Beyond Incontinence

If you are interested in enhancing your results and addressing concerns beyond sexual dysfunction and incontinence, we recommend pairing your procedure with Emsculpt NEO. This is a treatment that combines HIFEM energy with radiofrequency (RF) energy to melt your fat, firm your skin, and enhance the definition of your muscles. Similar to Emsella, Emsculpt NEO stimulates powerful muscle contractions to achieve its results and can address regions such as your:

  • Abdomen
  • Flanks
  • Buttocks
  • Front Thighs
  • Back Thighs
  • Outer Thighs
  • Inner Thighs
  • Arms
  • Legs
  • Back (4)
