Preparation

Effectively preparing for your treatment optimizes results and helps ensure your skin is ready for treatment. The team at 17Medspa may advise you to:

  • Drink plenty of water in the 24 to 48 hours leading up to your appointment
  • Avoid tanning and direct sun exposure for at least two weeks before treatment
  • Arrive with a clean face, free of makeup or lotion
  • Shave the treatment area a day before the appointment (if necessary)
  • Discontinue the use of retinols or other chemical exfoliants at least three days before your appointment
  • Limit or avoid alcohol and caffeine 24 hours before your treatment

Procedure

The XERF skin-tightening procedure will unfold in a series of steps similar to the following:

  1. Your skin expert will begin by cleansing your face to remove impurities. They will apply a conductive gel, which helps the device glide seamlessly over the skin and distribute heat evenly.
  2. They will then pass the XERF device across the entire skin surface, emitting different frequencies to the upper dermis and the deeper tissues.
  3. Your skin will absorb the radiofrequency energy as heat, which tightens existing collagen fibers and triggers neocollagenesis. (3)
  4. They will repeat this process for about 30 to 60 minutes, evenly addressing areas of concern.
  5. Lastly, they may apply a cooling balm to soothe the skin.

Recovery

XERF skin tightening treatments do not require extensive downtime. You may return to your daily activities immediately after, but we advise resting for the remainder of the day. We also recommend avoiding wearing makeup and using harsh skincare products for 24 to 48 hours. Your skin may be slightly red, almost like a sunburn, and tight and warm during this time, but this generally subsides within a day. We also recommend avoiding hot showers, saunas, and strenuous activity to minimize further redness or irritation.

Results

Subtle skin-tightening results may be immediately noticeable after your treatment, but the most significant improvements and maximum collagen remodeling appear after 4 to 12 weeks. XERF skin tightening provides an instant lift by tightening the skin and improving overall texture. However, these results continue to develop over time as collagen production improves. XERF can also create a more defined jawline, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and smooth uneven texture on the neck, arms, or abdomen. While you may see improvements after one session, two to three sessions deliver optimal results. These sessions are typically spaced four weeks apart. After your sessions, results can last up to a year, though patient experiences may vary.
