Preparation

Preparing for your PRP DermaFiller treatment involves several preparatory steps to ensure a successful outcome. Because this treatment is non-surgical and only minimally invasive, there is not an extensive list of preparatory steps to follow, but some key guidelines are recommended nonetheless. Blood-thinning medications and supplements should be avoided before your PRP treatment. Patients should be well-hydrated and consume a nutritious diet in the days leading up to their treatment to ensure their blood is healthy and full of beneficial growth factors and nutrients. Alcohol and nicotine consumption should be avoided for at least 48 hours before the procedure. If your treatment requires sedation or heavy anesthesia, please arrange transportation.

Procedure

On the day of your procedure at 17Medspa, you will start with a brief review of the treatment plan with your provider. Because DermaFiller is a platelet-rich plasma-based treatment, your procedure will follow the same steps as other PRP treatments. The first step for all PRP procedures is collecting a small amount of blood, usually from your arm. ⁽²⁾ This is no different than having blood taken by a doctor for standard tests. This blood is then placed into a centrifuge where it is spun rapidly to separate its components. Plasma, platelets, and other growth factors are isolated from cell waste, blood cells, iron, and other components, ensuring that the remaining mixture is potent and intended for growth and healing. Once prepared, your provider will sterilize the skin and prepare it for receiving injections. The DermaFiller injectable is an augmented version of standard platelet-rich plasma injections. DermaFiller does contain hyaluronic acid, but it also enhances the effectiveness of albumin. Albumin is a body protein that helps regulate blood pressure, prevent body fluid leaks (both internally and externally), aids in the transportation of nutrients, and helps regulate blood pH. ⁽³⁾ The PRP production process has a unique step where it heats the mixture, allowing albumin and other proteins to be restructured to better aid in facial tissue volume growth.
