PDRN (Salmon DNA) Injections
Consultations offered at our two convenient locations in Buena Park and Cupertino, CA
Polydeoxyribonucleotides (PDRNs) are specialized substances that help to rejuvenate the skin, improve dermal hydration, and promote cellular regeneration. (1) Up until recently, PDRNs were extracted from the DNA of salmon, but now lab-made synthetic options are available. Individuals whose skin, especially on their face, has shown visible signs of aging like wrinkles, fine lines, dehydration, and more can benefit from PDRN injections. If you want to revamp your skin and reignite a beautiful, youthful glow, then a salmon-derived or synthetic PDRN injection regimen may be the right treatment for you.
If you would like to explore how a PDRN injection treatment can benefit your skin, schedule a consultation with one of the expert providers at 17MedSpa. We are one of California’s leading medspas, and we can help you achieve your ultimate beauty goals.
If you want to contact your local office, you can call our Buena Park location at (714) 332-7009 or our Cupertino location at (408) 663-8701.

About PDRN (Salmon DNA) Injections
Polydeoxyribonucleotides derived from salmon DNA are a revolutionary medical treatment designed to harness the natural powers of salmon DNA to enhance skin quality and accelerate recovery processes. Salmon has long been considered a “superfood” because of its high protein, low fat, beneficial oils, antioxidants, and more. PDRNs are another beneficial compound that can be found in this makeup.
The primary function of PDRN is to stimulate collagen synthesis and promote tissue regeneration through cellular repair. This treatment can effectively treat various skin conditions and signs of aging by boosting hydration, improving elasticity, and revitalizing damaged skin. (1)
The popularity of PDRN therapy has surged over the past decade, especially among individuals seeking non-surgical options to achieve youthful and radiant skin. Historically, PDRN was initially used in regenerative medicine to assist with wound healing and post-surgery recovery. (2) As studies expanded, more applications emerged within the realm of aesthetic medicine, leading to transformative results for patients seeking effective solutions for their skin concerns. The refined product is a 95% pure compound of proteins and peptides that encourage collagen production in human cells. (1)
Benefits
Salmon-based and synthetic PDRN treatments offer many benefits to patients. At 17MedSpa, our clients typically experience:
- Enhanced skin hydration: PDRN promotes improved moisture retention in the skin, making it look plumper and healthier.
- Increased collagen production: The stimulation of collagen production helps increase elasticity in the skin and reduce wrinkles, providing a smoother appearance.
- Natural tissue regeneration: PDRN supports cellular repair, promoting recovery from injuries or scars.
- Improved skin elasticity: Strengthening skin support structures leads to firmer and more resilient skin.
- Non-surgical options: PDRN therapy is non-invasive, leading to minimal downtime and fewer risks compared to surgical treatments.
- Versatility in treatment areas: PDRN can be utilized on the face, neck, décolletage, and hands for overall rejuvenation.
- Safety and biocompatibility: PDRN is well-tolerated by the skin and poses minimal risk of allergic reactions.
- Revitalization of skin barrier: Salmon DNA injections are perfect for patients who suffer from damaged or dehydrated skin caused by internal or external, environmental factors.
Candidates
PDRN injection treatments are available for any men or women with signs of aging on their face or hands and wish to rejuvenate their appearance. Dull and dehydrated skin, wrinkles and lumps, acne scars, uneven skin textures, sun damage, and more can all be reversed with these treatments. Patients who respond best to these treatments are those who are in good overall health, do not smoke–or are willing to quit smoking–and maintain realistic expectations about their outcomes. Certain allergies can impact candidacy–we screen for these factors and more during a personal consultation.
Personal Consultation
The first step in your PDRN injection regimen is a consultation with one of the professionals at 17MedSpa. At this appointment, you will discuss your goals for the treatment. Your professional will also examine your skin. After collecting relevant health information and observations, they will form a plan that considers where injections should be placed, their specific concentrations, and more.
PDRN injections are minimally-invasive and have a low risk for complications, but we still want to ensure your safety by screening for any medications, allergies, supplements, existing conditions, or past procedures that could potentially interfere with your treatment.
Preparation
Very little preparation is required to receive PDRN injections. We advise patients to stay as hydrated as possible on the day of their treatment and wash their face before receiving their injections.
There are other steps to follow that can improve the results of your treatment, but these are not necessarily required. These include avoiding alcohol and other blood-thinning compounds, quitting smoking and any other forms of nicotine consumption.
Procedure
Your injection procedure will start with a professional cleansing your skin and administering a local anesthetic at the treatment site. Your professional will then inject the PDRN solution into the targeted treatment areas. This process typically takes about 30 minutes from start to finish, but this may change depending on how many injections you receive and the goals for your procedure.
PDRN injections primarily rejuvenate the skin by stimulating collagen production in dermal cells. This is mostly because salmon DNA is rich in nucleotides, but there are other beneficial compounds in the PDRN solution. (1) A decrease in collagen production is the main reason for the formation of wrinkles and other skin blemishes. Collagen is produced in specialized skin cells called fibroblasts. When PDRNs are injected into the skin, the cells absorb it, and the heavy concentration of nucleotides activate the body’s natural repair mechanisms and stimulate the production of new collagen. PDRN also encourages the formation of new blood cells, improves the skin’s ability to hold moisture, and improves cell regeneration and skin elasticity.
Once the required injections are placed, we will administer a soothing cream to assist in the absorption of the PDRN solution in your skin and to add additional hydration. You will leave feeling refreshed and begin to see the results develop over the next few weeks. Collagen production is a gradual process.
Recovery
You can resume your normal routines immediately after the procedure, but we do recommend avoiding heavy exertion of fast-paced activities to prevent disruption of the PDRNs in the treatment sites. You should keep the treatment areas clean. When bathing, try to wash these areas gently. Avoid touching your injection sites as much as possible throughout the day.
Results
Some patients are able to witness results within days after their injections, but the most significant improvements are often noticeable after about 3-4 weeks. After results start to set in, patients see reduced wrinkles, healthier skin, and a reduction in blemishes. Things like acne and acne scars, sun damage, dark spots, red spots, and more are also improved after these treatments. Overall, patients emerge from these treatments with a rejuvenated appearance that makes them look much younger and healthier.
Corresponding & Complementary Procedures
PDRN injections are just one of many different rejuvenation treatments we offer at 17MedSpa. When combined with other procedures, patients can experience complete and total rejuvenation in their skin and health. For wrinkle and blemish treatment, we offer collagen injections and Botox. Collagen injections add an influx of collagen into loose, wrinkled skin, which helps add strength and new skin cells in targeted sites, leading to smoother, healthier skin. Botox is a popular injectable medication that is derived from bacteria-produced botulinum toxin. This inhibits nerve signals that cause muscles to retract, so they stay in a semi-permanent flexed position which smooths out wrinkles and creates a youthful appearance.
We also offer treatments like VI Peels (chemical peels) and custom-tailored skin improvement regimens that can help you achieve the healthiest, most beautiful skin possible. Whatever your skin goals may be, we can help you select the treatments that will help you increase your confidence and improve your appearance.
