About Oligio

Aging, weight fluctuations, stress, and diet can all affect your skin. As you age and your skin’s levels of collagen and elastin decline, you may start to notice fine lines, wrinkles, and laxity. Collagen and elastin are proteins that help your skin maintain a smooth, youthful-looking appearance. Oligio can tighten the skin by raising its collagen levels with gentle radiofrequency application, creating natural-looking results without a lengthy downtime. Oligio uses monopolar RF, which uses deeper energy to tighten skin and reduce fat more effectively than other types of RF. In a recent study, patients who treated their skin with monopolar radiofrequency experienced notable results in just 1 month, with the most significant improvement after 6 months. ⁽¹⁾

Oligio Technology

Oligio administers radiofrequency waves at 6.78 MHz, which is higher than what’s used in many standard RF devices. Your body absorbs these waves as heat energy, which then stimulates natural healing processes and collagen production. The Oligio device also incorporates specialized cooling technology that protects your skin during treatment. During the treatment, we administer the RF energy to your skin with a handpiece. It has three different modes (single, duo, and auto) that we can adjust for your skin type and concerns. If you have a skin condition or active infection, we will need to know. If you received any additional aesthetic treatments recently, we may delay your treatment temporarily to ensure optimal results. Pregnant patients are not eligible for Oligio treatments.

Preparation

To prepare for your treatment, you should avoid excessive sun exposure that could damage your skin. Taking care of your skin in the weeks leading up to your appointment is important for maximizing the effects of Oligio. Patients who smoke should be prepared to stop temporarily, and we will provide specific instructions to help you prepare based on your personalized treatment plan.

Treatment Process

On the day of your treatment, you should arrive at the office with clean skin, without makeup or skincare products. We will cleanse your skin and, if necessary, apply a topical anesthetic. Next, we will administer radiofrequency energy to your skin in an even pattern. As the RF energy transfers to your skin, your body will absorb it as heat energy. This will stimulate collagen production and other beneficial healing processes. We may make multiple passes over your skin with the handpiece, depending on the condition of your skin and the issues you wish to address.

After Your Treatment

After your treatment, you can return home to rest. You should avoid excessive sun exposure to prevent damaging your skin. You may also experience some skin irritation, swelling, and/or bruising in the treatment area. If you experience discomfort, you can alleviate it with a cold compress and/or medication. You should follow up with the office so we can monitor your progress.

Results

After the treatment, you can enjoy smoother, firmer skin and a more youthful look. Many patients also feel that their self-confidence improves afterward. You can notice an improvement in your appearance within 4 weeks as the collagen refreshes your skin. Some patients notice improvement after a single treatment, though a series may be recommended for best results.
